Mining PSU Overhaul & Electrical Safety Masterclass
In-depth instruction on high-wattage switch-mode power supplies, capacitor testing, DC rail load balancing, and thermal imaging.
Curriculum & Practical Scope
High-draw mining power supply units (such as APW12 and Bitmain/MicroBT server PSUs) operate near continuous maximum capacity. This course covers the internal circuitry of high-efficiency server PSUs, primary vs. secondary stage safety, MOSFET fault diagnosis, high-amperage 12V terminal replacement, and thermal camera inspection under full load.
Hands-On Learning Outcomes
- ✓ Understand high-voltage safety procedures and safe capacitor discharging protocols
- ✓ Diagnose Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuitry failures and shorted bridge rectifiers
- ✓ Repair melted 12V terminal connectors and rebuild heavy-gauge wiring harnesses
- ✓ Conduct electrical load balancing across 3-phase and single-phase distribution panels
- ✓ Use calibrated thermal cameras to identify high-resistance contact points before catastrophic failure
Scope & Workshop Boundaries
What is Included
- Electronic load bank testing station and isolation transformer workstations
- High-current crimping tools and replacement connector supply kit
- Electrical Safety Reference Guidebook
What is Excluded
- Commercial repair warranty on third-party PSUs brought by participants
- Building electrical engineering permit filings
Target Audience
Miners and technicians wanting to diagnose PSU tripping, burnt terminals, and electrical load imbalances safely.
Prerequisites
Basic understanding of volts, amps, and watts.
