Our Gimpo Hardware Diagnostic Laboratory
Cortex Trail Point is purpose-built for heavy DC power testing, delicate ASIC micro-soldering, and practical troubleshooting. Take a detailed look at the 6 dedicated technician workstations and testing bays.
Individual Technician Stations
We believe true competency comes from personal muscle memory. That is why our workshops never require students to huddle around a single instructor demonstration. Each participant receives an individual workbench configured with professional-grade test equipment.
- ESD Safe Environment: Conductive continuous grounding mats, wrist straps, and static dissipating floor coatings.
- Optical Inspection: 7X–45X trinocular stereo zoom microscopes with LED ring illuminators for inspecting 0201 passives and BGA solder joints.
- Micro-Soldering Rework: Digital hot-air stations with rapid heating profiles and precision micro-pencil soldering irons.
Specialized Testing & Diagnostic Bays
Bay A: Signal Tracing & Test Fixtures
Equipped with multi-architecture ASIC test fixtures, dual-channel 100MHz digital oscilloscopes, and precision bench multimeters to measure 0.4V–1.8V domain drops and clock signal propagation.
Bay B: Micro-Rework & Reballing
Dedicated chip replacement station featuring preheating plates, low-melt solder alloy supplies, laser-cut stainless steel ASIC stencils, and ultrasonic cleaning baths for residue removal.
Bay C: High-Amperage Power Testing
Isolated 300A DC electronic load bank, isolation transformers, and FLIR thermal cameras for safely testing power supply units (PSUs) under continuous maximum draw without risking live miners.
The Immersion Testing Bay
Single-phase dielectric immersion presents unique maintenance challenges including fluid breakdown, particulate contamination, and gasket swelling. Our wet lab houses a 4-tank operational immersion setup where students perform dielectric breakdown voltage tests and heat exchanger maintenance.
- Megger dielectric breakdown voltage test cell
- Optical refractometers and kinematic viscosity sampling cups
- Plate heat exchanger disassembly and chemical flush rig
Laboratory Safety & Protocol Standards
Electrical & High-Voltage Protocols
All high-voltage PSU diagnostics are conducted through isolation transformers. Students are trained in safe capacitor bleed-down verification using high-impedance probes before opening any power chassis.
Chemical & Fume Controls
Soldering stations are linked to multi-stage HEPA and activated carbon fume extractors. Ultrasonic cleaning with high-purity isopropyl alcohol is performed inside a dedicated explosion-proof ventilated enclosure.
Ready to Train at Our Gimpo Lab?
Workbench positions are limited to 6–8 participants per clinic to maintain individual instructor attention and dedicated station time.
