Practical Mitigation Strategies
To safeguard multi-million won hardware investments, facility engineers must employ four interconnected layers of defense:
- Positive Pressure Filtration: Maintain positive air pressure inside the clean room envelope to prevent unconditioned humid air from infiltrating through wall penetrations.
- Automatic Hot-Air Recirculation Louvers: Modulate exhaust air dampers during high-humidity days to maintain intake temperatures at 26°C-28°C, ensuring relative humidity drops below 55% before hitting the hashboards.
- Conformal Coating Maintenance: Inspect hashboards annually for microscopic salt and moisture crystallization around fine-pitch SMD components, re-coating exposed traces with silicone-based conformal barrier sprays.
